Skeumorphic Weather App
In this case study, I talk about this fun personal project of the weather app I made. It was to test the idea of blending real life into an app to connect real world elements into an app, making it easier to recognize each element in the app.
Background
A fun, small project. The idea was to make a weather app that has its own streamline modern identity, while showing the most important stuff at a quick glance. The app should also use Skeumorphism. I.E. it has to look like something real.
Challenge
The challenge of this was absolutely trying to keep the unique look while not removing practicality of showing the simplest information.
Solution
To give the app a look to be similar to something in real life, while also keeping the streamline modern look, I decided to give it a wooden theme with shiny buttons and glass.
Role and Contribution
I made all of it myself with some outside feedback to make sure I didn’t get too secured on one idea.
Results
Personally, I am very satisfied with the result. Perhaps a bit messy, but does it job. It shows the current weather and temperature as well as wind speed and direction.
It also has a simplified future weather table for hours and days.
